Himachal CM urged PM Modi to protect the state’s interests in hydropower projects

Shimla: Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu met Prime Minister Narendra Modi in New Delhi on Saturday. Sukhu called for protecting the state’s interests in hydroelectric projects and urged the state to recover a time limit to hand over the projects back. An official release stated that he also raised the issue of free royalty and handed over the projects under PSU and CPSUS, which was completed 40 years.

He requested the Prime Minister to provide liberal financial assistance to the state and release funds due to the state as soon as possible. The Chief Minister informed PM Modi from the point of view of the state government to make Himachal Pradesh self -sufficient by 2032. He said that the state government is already making efforts in this direction by preparing schemes and strengthening the existing people. He explained in detail on the initiative of the state government in tourism, green energy, power and other areas.

The Chief Minister also discussed other issues related to the return of additional land and extended royalty from projects that have completed 40 years and recovered their costs. The Chief Minister also discussed the Kangra Airport and the interests of the apple producers of the state should be protected. He raised the issue of importing apples from Türkiye and other countries.

The Prime Minister heard the demands of the Chief Minister and, in addition to sympathetic views about other issues, assured to look into the matter of apple imports, the release said.
Earlier today, Chief Minister Sukhu also participated in the tenth governing council meeting of Neeti Ayog in New Delhi.

PM Mode first chaired the meeting of the 10th Governing Council of Neeti Ayog at Bharat Mandapam in New Delhi today. In this, the Chief Minister and Lieutenant Governor represented 24 states and 7 UT. This year’s theme Vikasit Bharat was a worthy state for@2047. The meeting began with a one -minute silence in memory of the victims of the Pahgam terror attack.

The Prime Minister said that this is the aspiration of every Indian for the country who is Vikasi Bharat. This is not the agenda of any party, but the aspiration of 140 crore Indians. He noticed that if all states work together on this goal, we would make great progress. He also said that we should commit that every state, every city, every village will be developed, and then Vikasit India will get much more before 2047.
